MINUTES OF BOARD MEETING

August 3, 2015

 

Members Present:  Barbara Mosbacher, Penelope Hooks, Monica Altamirano, Anne Strain, Sharon Gerber

Members Absent:    Ann Weiss, Rebecca Clearman

Guests Present:      None

Administrator:         Ruth Maya

 

I.        CALL TO ORDER
          President Barbara Mosbacher called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m..
          New Board Members were welcomed.

II.       APPROVAL OF MINUTES
          The minutes from the June 15, 2015 Board Meeting were approved.

III.      DISCUSSION ITEMS/STATUS REPORT
          A.  Treasurer's Report:  THE HPS's balance is $11,699.19, which is up from this time last year.
          B.  Task Force:  Barbara reported that the task force is hiring a consultant to assist in making the transition to a Center                     model go smoothly.         
          C.  Membership Report:  Monica reported that the HPS membership is 5 with 4 Actives and 1 Student.
                    The Membership Committee has met 2 times and has arrived at several ideas to enhance HPS' appearance to                         the public in order to make our meetings more attractive to the community.  In order to improve and make                             healthier food options available, several members of the committee will approach different markets and ask                           for donations.  Ruth will increase the email roster by including email addresses from the Lovett Center, the                             Alumna Association, CFPS and their outreach list, the Ft. Bend Psychological Society, and the Houston                                 Psychological Society.

IV.      NEW BUSINESS
          A.  Any request for an HPS email blast to advertise something for any individual/organization will be vetted by the                             Board.
          B.  Future HPS Board Meeting Agendas and Minutes will be posted on the website to promote transparency.
          C.  In case of future emergencies, when HPS Board members are unable to attend the Board Meeting, they are                             requested to set up a video or phone conference connection.
          D.  Goals for the year:  Increase membership; reduction of student membership fees was discussed.
          E.  Community Service Project:  Barbara briefly introduced the idea of HPS arranging about 3 meetings so Houston                         veterans can explain to the community their needs and how the community could help.
          F.  Theme for the year 2015-2016 will be Psychoanalysis:  The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
          G
.  Next HPS Board Meeting will be Monday August 31, 2015.

V.       ADJOURNMENT
          Barbara adjourned the meeting at 10:00 a.m.
